Here are fifteen such developments with definitions and test sentences. 1. Over and over: more than once (â€Å"I rehearsed the move over and over so I didn’t need to consider what I was doing†) 2. Before long (or eventually): later, or inevitably (â€Å"I think he’ll come around in our mind by and by†) 3. To an ever increasing extent: progressively more, logically expanding, or progressively evident or pervasive (â€Å"It’s getting increasingly more hard to track down in stores†) 9. In a dead heat: close in a challenge or race, recommending two ponies whose necks are next to each other (â€Å"The competitors are surveying in a dead heat lately†) 10. Endlessly: consistently (â€Å"The speaker rambled endlessly past her designated time†) 11. Without a doubt: total or articulate (â€Å"That’s a far and away lie!†) 12. Again and again: more than once (â€Å"He said it again and again, to ensure I understood†) 13. Someone or other (or something like that thus): a placeholder name for an individual (frequently introductory topped), a placeholder word for at least one things, or a code word for a hostile sobriquet (â€Å"I conversed with So-thus that person over there†) 14. Such-and-such: a placeholder for a thing or activity (â€Å"If you were to go to such-and-such a spot, you’d discover the building†) 15.
